1969 Fox 112m Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is a fun movie that reinvented the Western for a new generation. It's pairing of Newman and Redford would create one of the most popular duos to ever hit the screen. The movie was directed by George Roy Hill, a veteran director of TV's "Golden Age", who would not only make this classic film, but many other great films like Slaughterhouse-five, Slap Shot and The Sting. The movie also stars Katharine Ross, who two years earlier was thrust into the spotlight for her role in The Graduate. There are many elements that make this movie so popular with such a large audience. There's the pairing of the two handsome actors, the witty lines ("Think you used enough dynamite there Butch?", "Who are those guys?"), the wonderful Academy Award winning cinematography of Conrad Hill, and the romantic ledged of the famous outlaws. |
