Director Milos Forman has dealt with the relationship of madness and
rebellion in other movies, most notably the Andy Kaufman bio Man on the Moon
(1999) and 1984s Amadeus.

A nice rest in the state mental hospital beats a stretch in the pen, right? Randle P McMurphy, a free spirited con with lightening in his vains. Jack Nicholson stars in it, Ken Kesey wrote it, Michael Douglas and Saul Zaentz produced it and Milos Forman directed it. One of the all-time great movies.


After an academy award nomination for best actor for his role in 1974's Chinatown, Jack Nicholson won an Oscar for his portrayal of McMurphy. The film swept the '76 Academy Awards:
