1998 An utterly charming and wholly original comedy from writer-director Wes Anderson. Geeky 15-year-old Max Fischer (Jason Schwartzman) may be flunking school, but he's cornered the market on extracurricular activities at Rushmore Academy. He's also deeply in love with Miss Cross (Olivia Williams), a fish-loving first-grade teacher. Max plans to win her over by building an elaborate aquarium with the help of depressed steel tycoon Mr. Blume (Bill Murray), never dreaming that Miss Cross might find a more appropriate suitor in Mr. Blume. |
